HIGH-RISE Fire Fighting
Developing better responses to fires in tower bocks and high-rise buildings.

Biography of the Site Technical advisor

This site a result of an ongoing and sometimes all-consuming passion for improving how we fight fires in tall buildings.

PLEASE PLEASE REMEMBER....

It is a labour of love...... In my own time....in my little upstairs office.

It is entirely NOT FOR PROFIT .... in fact it costs me money and a lot of time.

It will ALWAYS be work in progress!!

It will have spelling mistakes and grammatical errors!! I don't have any one to help me or to proof read it. But I do try to get round to re-reading and correcting.

Many of the articles are inspired by debate, discussion (disagreement!) and information from others that I would call "subject experts"

You may not agree with some of it, but hopefully it will spark debate and professional discussion.

I would really welcome any articles, discussions, reviews, Information that anyone would care to add (and it will be fully credited how ever the submitter requires)

Much of what I have learnt about this subject is from others and I have had much help in the development work I have done.... (and I name some below)... If I every get to stand tall, its because I stand on the shoulders of giants.

All the below have, in various ways helped (and as so encouraged me) in my endeavours to know more about High Rise Fires and ultimately help inform others. They are all fantastic guys and I am proud to also call them friends and colleagues.

Paul Grimwood... A subject expert, an exceptional Fire Engineer and a personal inspiration.

Martin Arrowsmith...A subject expert on all aspects of pump, water delivery and pump operations.

.

Mark Buddon...A much respected colleague from another FRS who I've always shared a common bond and who's opinion is so valued.

Bill Gough. Who encouraged me to push forward with this project and who's wide ranging expertise has always been available whenever I have asked..

Mick Smith (Guv).. Always encouraged and supported me (and often acted as my chauffeur all over the South East)

Jason Commentucci, Andy Tidy, Tony Parry, Steve Quincey, Kevin Morgan, Martin Pritchard... All have put up with me rattling on about High Rise, for too many years, but each of whom has contributed massively to this subject (and they probably don't even know they did)

To all the firefighters that I have had contact with on the many and various Firefighting forums I subscribe to.

...and of course to the many hundreds of JO's and firefighters whom I have had the great privilege to serve with.

Thank you all, so very much!
